You’re never too old to fulfill a lifelong dream. At least, that’s the case with 99-year-old Joyce Gardner. Her nursing home stepped up and decided to help meet a penguin. That’s right. A penguin.
Bernadette House, a care facility in the UK, asks its residents what one wish they have, and fortunately, they had the opportunity to make Joyce’s come true.
“Some people ask for a certain type of cake or a specific film,” Elizabeth Stephens, the owner of the home, shared. “But Joyce asked to meet a penguin, which was a first for us.”
Heythrop Zoological Gardens was responsible for this wonderful day. They were able to bring 3 penguins who were used to “acting” and being on camera, so they were very comfortable with the residents.
Penguins are incredibly social creatures, so they were totally fine with all of the attention, and even being held. And they even looked very dapper for the occasion in their little tuxedos.
