Hello, I’m Dan. I’ve written many articles here before. Mostly about food. I also let people on Reddit roast me just so you could laugh at my pain. Well, I’m here to talk about food again.
Customer service workers get yelled at all day. Businesses see tweets every minute from customers having negative experiences. I’m here to push back. If I love something unapologetically (especially food) I will call the comment line and give them a wholesome message. Good job, everyone. They are almost always speechless.
Who does that? I do.
I love Wendy’s. No, this is not an ad. I love them so much I felt the urge to call their customer service line so I could tell them how much I enjoyed my latest meal there. I have a lot of spare time.
I was thrilled to find a kindred spirit. I bonded with the customer service operator more than I’ve bonded with members of my extended family.
I made sure to record my call for posterity. I like to listen back to a friendship organically blossoming. Some call this creepy. Others, call it illegal. I say it’s neither. I want to show the world how easy it is to make someone’s day. That’s why I started doing “Positive Pranks.”
Here’s my recent positive prank call with Wendy’s Customer Service:
I called them after a delicious meal to tell them everything went as planned. They couldn’t believe it.
I called @wendys Customer Service to tell them how much I love their food and ended up bonding with the operator more than I’ve bonded with anyone in my family. #positivepranks #lol #prankcalls 1/2 pic.twitter.com/nB1nb3l4oX

Yes, you heard me. I dip the sandwich into the ice cream. I was relieved to find out I’m not alone.
Here is the second part of my call with Shay at Wendy’s:

As you can hear… we’re really connecting.
Try as I might to get some small acknowledgment from Wendy’s, they never responded. I’m starting to think the CEO did not receive my comment.
I even posted every time I was there to remind them how much I love their food.
These photos were taken after I did a late show in Brooklyn. I’m 100% sober in them. I’m just excited about the food.
Wendy has still not reached out to say thank you. But guess who did find me?
That’s right. Shay.
Shay made a Twitter just to say hello, and continue our chat.
She double-checked that I really did the chicken in the frosty dip. I do.
Shay and I are now best friends. I would never lie to Shay. I told her that I once posted a video online “doing the dip” as I call it, but enough friends texted me asking if I was OK, that I eventually took it down. Some things should be private.
Here’s what others had to say about my positive prank.
The reviews are in! People love positive pranks!
If you’d like to see more, I also called Head & Shoulders to say my hair felt great after using their product. They were stunned.
I called Head & Shoulders Customer Service and told them I love their product and they couldn’t believe it! #positivepranks #tbt pic.twitter.com/8hzqGv3Roj
