People Are Sharing The Most Uncomfortable Movie Scenes They Had To Sit Through

What’s the most uncomfortable movie scene you’ve had to sit through. It could be something awkward you had to watch with your parents or it could be just a heavy emotional part of a movie you just weren’t ready for.

My girlfriend and I recently watched Bridesmaids. I think it’s a great comedy and it still holds up a decade later. One scene, in particular, makes me uncomfortable every time, though.

The best friend speech battle scene makes me uncomfortable every time. If you’ve seen the movie, you might know which scene I’m talking about. Two of the characters, Annie and Helen, have a mini face-off to prove to Lillian, and everyone else, who the real best friend is. It’s as awkward as it sounds. Just imagine two of your best friends publicly battling it out with awkward speeches to prove how good of a friend they are.

From gory scenes to awkward moments, this list of uncomfortable movie scenes people have had to sit through has me cringing.

1. Luke Milks A Giant Elephant Seal In ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

“That scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi where Luke milks a giant elephant seal and then drinks the milk. Wtf was that scene?! Why did it need to be in this movie?!” — 7ElevenUp

2. The Ending Of ‘Sausage Party’

“The orgy scene in Sausage Party. It didn’t help that I saw it with my dad in theaters.” — -eDgAR-

3. Every Sex Scene In ‘The Room’

“Basically any sex scene in The Room.” — lfslshlps

“Seeing Tommy Wiseau’s bare a** changes a man” — maleorderbride

4. Father And Son Talk In ‘Happiness’

“Happiness – the scene where the father admits to his 12-year-old son that he… has [assaulted] boys his age. At one point, the son asks him if he was ever going to [do the same to] him, and the father replies, “no, I’d just [touch myself] instead. I felt like I needed a shower after watching that movie.” — VictorBlimpmuscle

5. The Volleyball Scene In ‘Meet The Parents’

“One of the most uncomfoortable movie scenes that comes to mind is in Meet the Parents when Greg spikes the volleyball into Pam’s sister’s face in the pool. Her nose immediately starts gushing blood, and the mom even jumps into the pool fully clothed. It’s so hard for me to watch because Greg puts up with so much sh*t from Pam’s family throughout the movie and then does that to top it off. Now that I’ve grown older, I’ve kind of started to be angry at Pam for not doing more to defend Greg from her a**hole relatives. She just let them eat him alive.” — coffin_nails_

6. The Stabbing Scene In ‘Saving Private Ryan’

“The guy being stabbed in Saving Private Ryan, if you’ve seen it, then you know exactly which part this is and why it’s so hard/horrible to watch. I hated this scene to the point that I haven’t watched this film a second time. I first watched it around 2003/4 or thereabouts and have never watched it since, as I know, that scene is in the film.” — [deleted]

7. Ball Scene In ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’

“The ball scene, boyyyyyy was I uncomfortable lol.” — RadaMadeMusic

8. The Russian Roulette Scene In ‘The Deer Hunter’

“The Russian roulette scene in The Deer Hunter with Christopher Walken.” — FightThaFight

“Hey, you know what makes that scene even worse? Knowing that Deniro insisted on having a live round in the revolver while filming. The director, producer, other actors all begged him not to do it, but he absolutely refused to film it otherwise. The director checked and re-checked the revolver every take to make sure the hammer wasn’t going to fall on the loaded chamber. To my knowledge, they unloaded it again before Walken did his takes.” — the_idea_pig

9. The Convenience Store Scene In ‘No Country For Old Men’

“The scene in No Country for Old Men when Javier Bardem’s character asks that old man who owns the convenience store to pick heads or tails makes me uncomfortable. Sh*t was tense as f*ck.” — Z0MBGiEF

10. The Sex Scene From ‘Team America: World Police’

“So the first time I watched Team America was at my parent’s house way back in the day. There I was, chilling in front of the big tv in the basement with the surround sound blasting, laughing my a** off, and my dad walks into the room. He casually asked what I was watching; before I had a chance to explain anything, the puppet sex scene began as if on cue. There was my dad, looking more and more disappointed as this gratuitously long scene just carried on and on. I tried to explain but simply could not find the words. My old man just stared blankly through the sex and the scat, and once the scene had finished, he just left the room without another sound. We didn’t talk for a few days after that.” — the_idea_pig

11. Phone Sex Scene In ‘Her’

“It’s definitely the [self-pleasure] scene in Her.

I watched that on the big screen, man. Never before have I been surrounded by people wanting to crawl out of their own skin, for what, two minutes? It felt like hours.

Are they really going there? Of course, they have to go there. Okay, we get it. Okay, you can stop now. Please, God, let it be over. ANY TIME NOW.

Gotta give the actor credit for even trying. That took balls.” — BurpBee

12. Watching ‘Bad Santa’ In Theaters Next To A Random Kid

“My ex-wife and some friends and I went to see Bad Santa opening weekend. Some dumba** brings his 10-12yr old daughter and sits right next to us. The girl was in the seat right beside me. The whole damn movie was uncomfortable.” — Jothomp79

13. Romantic Scene In ‘Parasite’

“Watching that sex scene in Parasite in theatres with my dad.” — everyunsungsong

14. A Man Being Split In Half In ‘Bone Tomahawk’

“In one scene in the movie Bone Tomahawk, two of the Natives are holding a man upside down by his ankles and split him in half from groin to chin with the said tomahawk. The imagery is one thing, but it’s the SOUNDS that make it uncomfortable.” — two-stumps

15. The Scenes Before The Time Jumps In ‘The Butterfly Effect’

“Basically, every end moment before the time jumps in The Butterfly Effect. It was a great movie, and these uncomfortable-to-watch moments were intended as such. If you don’t know about it: There was something horrific going to happen: Child abuse, an explosion, things like that. But the movie never actually showed these scenes. You were just directed, so you were aware of what was going to happen next second. Cut, silence, and dark screen for a moment. Just enough time for your brain to continue that missing second on its own. This way, these moments became much bigger than if they would have been actually visible on the screen.” — Satures

16. How PTSD Was Depicted In ‘You Were Never Really Here’

“One of the hardest movies I’ve ever had to sit through was You Were Never Really Here with Joaquin Phoenix. In the movie, he plays a man with PTSD, so literally anytime throughout the film, the director decided to have random cut scenes to his traumatic experiences to simulate what PTSD feels like. The whole time in the theater, I was on pins and needles.” — [deleted]
