It doesn’t matter if you have a real emergency or you just want to sleep and smoke weed all day: asking for time off is stressful. I’d almost rather just work sick than have to ask (which is a major problem with the work culture in America, but that’s a discussion for another time.)
If you’ve worked in an industry where you need to get your shift covered, you’ve probably developed a huge fear of asking for time off. The labor shortage has made it even harder for workers to get shifts covered and if someone has an emergency, they might be shit out of luck.
A waitress went to Reddit’s AITA page to ask if she was wrong to quit her restaurant job after her coworkers blew up at her. This restaurant sounds like a nightmare to work at.
