I’m a big fan of these malicious compliance stories. The ones where someone eventually agrees to the unreasonable demands of some jackass, but in a clever way that informs said jackass they are not to be trifled with.
This homeowner took to Reddit to share such a story. They had agreed with their previous neighbor about where to build a fence between their properties. All was well until that neighbor moved out and Anne (who is the spitting image of an entitled Karen) moved in. Anne said the fence encroached on her property and to either move the fence or start paying her. If the homeowner didn’t? Well, Anne had a lawyer friend at the ready and wouldn’t hesitate to take things to court.
Not a fan of threats, the homeowner opted to tear the whole fence down. Now Anne can’t let out her aggressive dog, lest it run away and bite a small child.
Keep going for the full story, which underscores the classic adage: be careful what you wish for — it might just come true.
