Mom Hikes Up Son’s Rent, Becomes Angry When He Plans To Move Out

When it comes to family and finances, things can get pretty tricky.

Take this situation: a 25-year-old (u/johnnyb186) who’s been paying a modest $60 a week in rent to live with his mom suddenly gets hit with a major rent hike. Now that he’s got a decent-paying temp job, his mom decides it’s time to up the ante to $150 a week. Naturally, he does the math and realizes he can get his own place, three or four times bigger, for not much more (we just hope he doesn’t end up with a landlord who asks for a tip on top of rent).

Now his mom is mad, so he took to Reddit to find out if he’s in the wrong. (To us, it sounds like Mom has a case of empty-nester syndrome). Keep going for the full story and see what the court of public opinion says.
