Shane Gillis’ “CouplaBeers” Sketch Is Being Called The Funniest In 20 Years

Last night’s SNL delivered what might be its most universally praised sketch in decades. Or at least that’s what Twitter is saying about it.

For those who missed it—it’s basically a parody of those medication commercial, but for booze.

“The way it works is simple. CouplaBeers quickly turns a cloudy, rainy day into a sunny one. It’s that easy. Now I’m the me I wanna be,” Gillis explains.

The comedian also says CouplaBeers is “clinically proven treatment for conditions like boredom, depression, winter, museum, hangovers, affair, and moderate to severe Italian wife.”

Gillis, known for his sharp, observational, blue-collar stand-up, is kind of the perfect choice to nail this soon to be classic sketch, which went viral immediately, with fans calling it the best SNL sketch in 20 years.

Twitter (or whatever we’re calling it now) was flooded with reactions, memes.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it. Just be warned—next time someone suggests “just a couple beers,” you might not believe them.
