Service dogs aren’t just pets—they’re working animals trained to assist people with disabilities, often performing life-saving tasks.
But some people just don’t get it.
One mother (u/SassyGigi80), who was out shopping with her special needs daughter in a wheelchair, had already spent the day fending off strangers trying to distract her daughter’s service dog.
When one particularly entitled father (who she calls “Kevin” in this story) refused to take no for an answer, things took a turn.
Kevin’s toddler, used to getting her way, threw a fit when told she couldn’t pet the dog.
Instead of setting boundaries, Kevin doubled down, demanding access to the animal as if it were public property.
The situation quickly escalated, disrupting the dog’s ability to do his job and causing stress for the child he was trained to protect.
The mother tried to protect her daughter and service dog, hurling a few choice insults the father’s way.
But now she’s wondering if she went too far.
So she took to Reddit for answers.
