Tutor Quits After Boss Refuses To Provide Water For Kids Who Asked For It

As someone who runs a business (Pleated-Jeans), I understand times can get tough, and when they do, cutting costs is almost the first place you look. But at what point are you just cutting costs that, first, won’t really impact the bottom line and, second, are just downright cruel?

In a recent Reddit “AntiWork‘ thread, u/frodothebaker tells the story of a boss who refused to provide water to thirsty kids, because they were going through “2 of those 24-packs per week.” Now, that costs what, $10/piece? If that? I’m of the general opinion that if you’re running a business that can’t handle a $10-20/week ‘shock’ to the budget, your business has already failed.

Anyway, the result of this story is the employee quit, but I’ll let you read the full context before passing judgment:

1. “No water for children. I quit today,” u/frodothebaker writes, before sharing a screenshot of the email from his boss:

2. OP also included a copy of their resignation letter:

4. Comments were on fire about this one, as they should have been. So many questions unanswered by the boss’ emai:
